Wine Adventures.

As Travis settled in to our couch to spend this cold, dreary day watching a bunch of guys run around chasing a piece of leather... I spent the day catching up on my tv shows from the week and organizing some of my iPhoto albums... which lead to me realizing it has been a while since my last real blog post and I have lots of catching up to do. So here's to starting the week of right and attempting to keep this blog up to date. First up, a wine trip to North Georgia that we made a few weeks ago with Travis's family. Lots of wine. Pretty scenery. Perfect weather that finally started to feel like fall. A cow.
And our wedding song played by the band.

Friday's Letters.

Dear Blog,
I am so sorry for neglecting you lately. Life has been a little crazy these last two weeks.

Dear Travis, Thanks for putting up with the crazy and understanding that sometimes a walk at the mountain and Riley love can cure anything.

Dear NorthStar Church, Your grassy side yard allowed for the perfect catch up Sunday with these two. And the future plans to turn the Ford family garage into Eli's own personal solar system.
Dear Stephanie and Brandon, Thank you for letting us love on your children and make crazy promises like painting your garage.
Dear Pinterest, The chocolate peanut butter pretzel cookies tasted
even better than they looked.

Dear Taylor Swift, Your new album rocks. It was the perfect soundtrack to get these feet back to running. #notashamed

A Pinterest Gameday.

Last weekend we headed over to Cara and Frank's to watch the Dawgs take on the Gamecocks. While the game was depressing, the yummy food helped lessen our blues... the Pinterest recipes even received the O's stamp of approval. For the recipes, I made the Rattlesnake bites and the Buffalo Chicken bites. Here is the verdict...

RATTLESNAKE BITES
*click on the picture for the recipe*
Number of Ingredients: 4
Effort: On a scale of 1-10... about a 3
Taste Factor: One a scale of 1-10... about a 7
Changes for Next Time: Maybe add some pepper jack cheese before rolling up
Overall: Definitely making again

BUFFALO CHICKEN BITES
* click on the picture for the recipe*
Number of Ingredients: about 7
Effort: On a scale of 1-10... about a 7... pretty messy
Taste Factor: On a scale of 1-10... about a 9.5 (much better than the dip)
Changes for Next Time: None
Overall: Per Travis's request, making for every football game, party, shower, family gathering, etc.

Friday's Letters.

Dear Friday (and my 4 day weekend), So nice to see you! I can't tell you how much I am going to love having 4 days of no school and then only 3 days of school next week. My list of "To do's" already seems like a mile long.

Dear Justin of 375 Photography, You just made my Friday... with pictures like this...
and these too...
Dear Cee Lo Green (and all of my other TV shows that are currently filling up my DVR), sometimes watching you the next day or even three days later is totally worth it so I can send moments like this to Travis. A pink bird? On your head? Really?!
Dear Gameday, Thanks for being an away game so I can hang out with these people...
... and so I can test out some of my new favorite Pinterest recipes... like Rattlesnake bites, baked buffalo chicken bites and cake batter cookies. YUM!

Through the eyes of a child.

For Eli's 6th birthday we wanted to take him on an adventure... thank goodness for Fernbank and their perfect timing. The weekend after his birthday, Fernbank hosted a special exhibit on all things space... Eli's new favorite topic. Not only did he get to learn even more about the planets, make his own moon phase book, look through a huge telescope, watch an astronaut give a demonstration but we also got to explore Fernbank and their nature room. With a tree house feel, Eli got to explore the ocean, check out some real animals, learn about fossils, inspect bugs with microscopes, run through fog and climb up and down a rope ladder inside a tree. Watching him grow up has been such a blessing. The world through his eyes leaves me amazed at the awe and wonder he sees in so many different areas of life. Here's to many more birthdays...
